How You Can Get Involved in Worship
- Make Sunday morning a family affair.
- Encourage your children to ask questions about their faith and the Holy Eucharist.
- Help create a positive environment-befriend a newcomer to your church.
- Remember that worship is not just a static noun-it is also an active verb.
- Purchase books on the Indian Orthodox Church faith for yourself or for members of your community.
- Organize a one-day symposium for adults or children.
- Altar assistants and choir members can volunteer to serve and encourage others participation and training.
- Volunteers are needed to serve as deacons and altar assistants.
- Arrange for at least one visitation per year of your household by your achen.
- Organize a seminar on the Holy Eucharist and arrange at least one special service per year for your household.
- Donate copies of the Holy Eucharist and other liturgical books to your parish, so they can be placed and used in the church.
- Please observe and encourage others to observe canonical Lents or fasts. Keep a Lenten journal and write about the experience.
- Enhance to keep our church as a Body of Christ, a spiritual unit without political and materialistic intervention and interference.
- Build sacramental and spiritual values among our parish members.
How You can get involved with our Youth
- Join a teen discussion at Sunday school. Share your opinions and vision with the younger generation.
- Join a teen discussion at MGOCSM and their Bible study. Share your opinions and vision with the younger generation.
- Become a Sunday school teacher.
- Become a youth or MGOCSM group advisor or chaperone.
- Enroll your children in Sunday school and make sure they make regular attendance.
- Become a mentor and change a young life.
- Help educate all of the Church's children-it's their best defense against the temptations of today's society.
- Keep in touch with a teenager: they need to know we care.
- Remember that children learn from example-and act accordingly.
- Encourage youth or MGOCSM members for regular meetings.
- Help establish and operate weekly Malayalam language schools.
How You Can Get Involved in Promoting our Heritage
- Organize a lecture or seminar series at your parish on matters related to our faith and heritage.
- Promote lectures or seminars for non-orthodox about our Church and heritage.
- Help to start a parish youth newsletter and volunteer to continue it regularly.
- Volunteer to maintain your parish website.
- Volunteer as a reporter for Diocesan Voice magazine.
- Volunteer to take photos of key events in the life of your parish.
- Donate spiritual and ecclesiastical books to start a parish Library.
- Volunteer a donation drive to maintain a good Library.
- Add your name to the Parish e-mail list so you are better informed.
- Add your name to the Diocesan e-mail list so you are better informed.
- Go through your address book and provide your parish and the Diocese with names and addresses of friends to add to their mailing lists.
